Midwestern State hosts Hilltoppers to close out the season

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State wraps up the season with a three-game series against St. Edward's at Mustangs Park.

The series begins with a doubleheader on Friday at 2 and 4 p.m., then concludes with a single game on Saturday beginning at noon.

Christine Billmeier, Bailey Brenek, Paige Bryant and Payton Griffin are the four departing seniors that will be recognized in a Senior Day ceremony following the game on Saturday.

The games are set to broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with Pete Stein calling the action at MSUMustangs.com/streaming.

>>> Midwestern State took two of three games from Western New Mexico at The Yard in Silver City, New Mexico, last week.
>>> Midwestern State had its most productive series of the season offensively, scoring 19 runs on 26 hits, including 11 extra-base hits. The Mustangs hit six home runs and five doubles in the series.
>>> Jessika Roberts was 7 for 12 with two doubles and two home runs at Western New Mexico. Roberts had three RBIs and scored six runs in the series, and she raised her batting average to .357 over her last 12 games. Bailey Brenek hit a grand slam in the second inning of Game 3. Brenek was 4 for 10 with six RBIs and scored three runs at Western New Mexico.
>>> Kennedy Cameron threw a complete game, allowing one earned run on nine hits with four strikeouts and did not walk a batter in Game 1. The junior right-hander threw 97 pitches in the 4-3 victory.

>>> Midwestern State is 7-14 at home this season and has won two of its last three series at Mustangs Park. The Mustangs are 10-38 overall with a 9-30 record in the LSC.
>>> MSU is averaging 2.7 runs per game at home this season. The Mustangs season-high run total at home is nine, which came in a 9-8 victory over Angelo State on March 4. MSU is averaging 5.3 hits per game at home this season, and has delivered 29 extra-base hits at Mustangs Park, including 24 doubles, two triples and three home runs.
>>> Midwestern State leads the conference with 22 double plays this season, which is fifth most in the nation.
>>> Utility player Sydney Shimkus is batting .281 to lead the Mustangs. The sophomore from Prosper, Texas, has two doubles, a homer and nine RBIs this season. Shimkus is hitting .373 with 22 hits since March 11.
>>> Outfielder Allie Monroe is second on the team with a .264 batting average. She has eight doubles, a triple, and two homers. The freshman from Lawton, Oklahoma, is hitting .375 in her last five outings with six hits, including a double, and two RBIs.
>>> Pitcher Kennedy Cameron is 13th in the Lone Star Conference and 140th in NCAA Division II, averaging 6.3 strikeouts per seven innings. Cameron has thrown complete games in her last two starts. In the month of April, Kennedy has allowed 15 earned runs on 31 hits in 35 1/3 innings. The junior from Longview, Texas, has a 2.99 ERA over her last eight appearances for the Mustangs.

>>> St. Edward's is 25-23 overall with a 19-20 record in the LSC. The Hilltoppers are 8-10 on the road this season.
>>> Freshman outfielder Arianna Vidales is leading St. Edward's with a .315 batting average and a .392 on-base percentage. Vidales has three double, two triples and 13 RBIs for the Hilltoppers this season.
>>> Freshman Ella Hutzler leads St. Edward's with four home runs and 22 RBIs this season. The infielder from San Antonio is hitting .246 and has struck out a team-leading 30 times this season.
>>> Pitcher Cadie Belle Currie has made 29 appearances with 26 starts and has thrown 15 complete games this season. The junior from Grapeland, Texas, is eighth in the conference with a 1.94 ERA and is 14-8 with seven shutouts. Currie has allowed 134 hits in 158 2/3 innings. Opponents are hitting .229 against the lefty.
