WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year
Germano Setti is the LSC Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
Setti extended his winning streak in singles to seven matches and completed the regular season with an 8-0 record against conference opponents.
The 5-9 Brazilian teamed up with
Marcal Miret Avante to score a 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles over 19th-ranked Joao Duleba and Baptiste Mercier of Cameron. Setti and Duleba met again in singles, and Setti defeated his compatriot, 7-5, 6-3, improving his record at No. 5 singles to 5-0.
MSU hosted Arkansas-Fort Smith on the final day of the regular season, and Setti outlasted Killian Darneaux at No. 4 singles, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Setti is 9-4 in the No. 4 singles position this season.
Setti is 16-6 in singles this season and has posted an 11-9 record in doubles, including a 2-2 record against nationally ranked opponents.
Setti was selected by the league's nine coaches as LSC Second Team Singles. He also earned LSC Second Team Doubles along with Miret.
Setti has helped Midwestern State reach the postseason as the No. 3 seed in the LSC Men's Tennis Championship this week at Arlington Tennis Center.
