Midwestern State to face TWU in an LSC three-game series at Mustangs Park

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State takes on Texas Woman's in a Lone Star Conference series Saturday and Sunday at Mustangs Park.

The Mustangs and Pioneers play a single game Saturday at 4 p.m. before closing the three-game set with a doubleheader on Sunday at 2 and 4 p.m.

The games are set to broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network at MSUMustangs.com/streaming.

All video streams on the LSC Digital Network are also available on Over-The-Top (OTT) apps on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku by searching "LSC Digital Network."

LAST TIME OUT | East Central (Okla.) swept Midwestern State in a mid-week, non-conference doubleheader by scores of 6-0 and 10-2 in five innings Tuesday in Ada. Sydney Shimkus and Madison Mann were the bright spots for the Mustangs connecting on solo home runs.

MUSTANGS TRACKS | Freshman Allie Monroe leads the Mustangs with a .290 batting average, while also leading the team with 20 hits, six doubles, a triple, two homers, and 10 RBIs... Monroe is hitting .406 (13-of-32) in 12 games at Mustangs Park this season... Freshman second baseman Kayla Bryant tops the Mustangs by hitting .288 (15-for-52) against teams with a winning record... Midwestern State hit two home runs in a game for the third time this season when Sydney Shimkus homered in the fourth inning and Madison Mann homers in the fifth during Game 2 Tuesday at East Central... MSU previously accomplished the feat in both ends of a doubleheader at Cameron on Feb. 26 when Allie Monroe and Maegan Shannon hit home runs in Game 1, while Payton Griffin and Monroe went back-to-back in the first inning of the second game... Shimkus is hitting .304 (7-for-23) with a homer over MSU's last 10 games...

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENT

TEXAS WOMAN'S (16-17, 10-14 LSC) | Junior Alyssa LeBlanc is a one woman wrecking crew for the Pioneers hitting .388 with 10 doubles, 14 homers, and 33 RBIs, while posting a 9-7 record in the circle with a 1.70 ERA... LeBlanc ranks second in NCAA Division II and leads the Lone Star Conference with 162 strikeouts in 102 2/3 innings while limiting the opposition to a .183 batting average... LeBlanc owns three shutouts and posted 10-or-more strikeouts in 11 games including an LSC single-game record of 23 against Angelo State on March 7... LeBlanc belted two homers in three games this season...

ABOUT THE SERIES

- Midwestern State and Texas Woman's meet for the 59th, 60th, and 61st time on the diamond Saturday and Sunday at Mustangs Park.
- The Mustangs own a 33-25 edge in the series that dates back to the 2004 season.
- MSU is 12-8 against the Pioneers all time in Wichita Falls, but TWU swept the twin bill last season at Mustangs Park by scores of 2-1 and 6-0.
