LA MIRADA, Calif. -- No. 15-ranked Midwestern State (8-6) will play its fourth and final dual in California against Biola (6-4) at the Biola Tennis Center on Friday at 2 p.m.
Midwestern State is facing Biola for the first time in the history of the program.
The Mustangs lost their first two duals on the road trip but defeated Fresno Pacific, 7-0, on Thursday.
Killian Guillou has opened the campaign with six consecutive victories in singles for the Mustangs, winning five matches at the No. 6 position. He also scored a victory at No. 4 singles, where Midwestern State is 11-3 as a team.
Germano Setti is 7-3 at No. 4 singles and ended a two-match slide with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Joshua Wong of Fresno Pacific.
Marcal Miret Avante is 8-5 in singles overall, winning his only match in the No. 5 position and winning twice in the No. 4 spot. Miret is 5-5 at No. 3 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Martin Ramirez on Thursday.
MSU is 7-6 at No. 2 singles this season.
Luis Diaz Argente is 3-2 in the No. 2 position, and
Charles Heffernan is 4-4 after winning a super tiebreak in the third set against Brodie Sodersten of Fresno Pacific, 10-4.
Diaz improved to 3-5 in the No. 1 singles position after strolling to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Ben Cronau of Fresno Pacific. Diaz is 6-7 in singles overall this season.
Juan David Duque is 5-2 in singles for the Mustangs and has won his last three completed matches, including a 6-3, 6-3 win over Gregor Kliimask of the Sunbirds on Thursday.
Duque and Diaz are 8-5 in doubles for Midwestern State, which is 22-17 in doubles matches this season.
Charles Heffernan and
Stephen Slocombe won their second consecutive match as a doubles team with a 6-3 win over Fresno Pacific at No. 1 doubles.
Miret Avante and Setti are 6-6 in doubles for the season.
Biola has won three of its last four duals after handing Western New Mexico a 7-0 defeat on Thursday afternoon.
Alexey Prokopchuk has reeled off seven consecutive wins and improved to 9-1 at No. 1 singles for the Eagles with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Patricio Larrea of Western New Mexico on Thursday afternoon.
Sebastian Herrera has won two of his last three matches in the No. 2 position for the Eagles after defeating Lachlan Rowing of WNMU, 6-4, 6-3. Herrera is 3-3 in singles overall this season.
Adrian Solorzano is 7-2 in singles overall and is 5-0 in the No. 3 position, including a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Yu-Jhe Du of WNMU.
Antonio Rosales Varona made his first start in the No. 4 position against WNMU and posted a 6-4, 6-4 win against Javier Romero of WNMU. Rosales Varona had lost four of his previous five matches for the Eagles.
The Eagles are 3-5 at the No. 5 spot, but Issac Cordova won his match at No. 5 singles on Thursday in straight sets.
Callen Hein improved to 4-2 in the No. 6 position on Thursday, and the Eagles are 6-3 as a team at No. 6 singles.
Biola has won the doubles point in each of its last three duals and is 15-10 in doubles overall. Adrian Solorzano is 7-3 in doubles overall and has his last four doubles matches with three different partners for the Eagles. The Mustangs return to the courts on Tuesday, March 28 and face conference rival Lubbock Christian at the Penny Gullo Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for noon.
