Midwestern State, UT Tyler series times shifted due to weather forecast

Mustangs, Patriots now play one on Friday, two on Saturday

TYLER, Texas -- Start times for Midwestern State's three-game Lone Star Conference series with UT Tyler have been shifted due to forecasted severe weather and rain.

The Mustangs and Patriots will now play a single game Friday at 5 p.m. before closing the series with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.

The games are set for broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network at MSUMustangs.com/streaming.

All video streams on the LSC Digital Network are also available on Over-The-Top (OTT) apps on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV and Roku by searching "LSC Digital Network."

LAST TIME OUT | Sophomore Zoe Isom limited UT Permian Basin to one run on six hits with four strikeouts to lead Midwestern State to a 2-1 win in Game 2. However, the Falcons won the series by taking the opener, 7-4, and the finale, 7-1. Freshman Allie Monroe led the Mustangs at the plate going 4-for-10 with a triple and an RBI in the series. Freshman Maegan Shannon smashed her second homer of the season in the opener and added a double in Game 2.

MUSTANGS TRACKS | Freshman Allie Monroe leads the Mustangs and ranks 43rd in the Lone Star Conference hitting .321 with six doubles, a triple, and two homers while driving in 10 runs... Monroe is currently on a season-best three-game hitting streak and batting .400 (4-for-10) during the stretch with a double, a triple, and an RBI... Sophomore Sidney Shimkus has also hit .400 (4-for-10) during her current season-best three-game hitting streak... Sophomore Taylor McKenzie ranks ninth in the Lone Star Conference making nine starts in the circle with an 0-9 record and 6.30 ERA... Junior Chloe Bryant leads the Mustangs with six stolen bases... Midwestern State has turned 10 double plays this season which are the second most in the LSC and 13th most in NCAA Division II... The Mustangs have scored more than four runs in three games this season, while scoring two-or-more runs in 14 of 161 innings played this season...

UT TYLER (25-4, 13-2 LSC) | The Patriots are ranked fourth in this week's National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association NCAA Division II Top 25... UT Tyler (13-2) holds a one-game lead over West Texas A&M atop the Lone Star Conference standings... The Patriots are 11-0 at home this season and have won 11 of their last 12 games with the lone loss coming 3-1 at Nova Southeastern... UTT ranks fifth in NCAA Division II leading the LSC with a .978 fielding percentage... The Patriots lead the LSC and rank second national drawing 117 walks and in being hit by pitch 36 times... Sophomore outfielder JT Smith ranks third in the LSC with a .427 batting average going for seven doubles, three triples, five homers, and 14 RBIs... Smith is a perfect 22-for-22 on stolen base opportunities ranking second in the LSC and 10th in NCAA Division II... Junior Tatum Goff leads NCAA Division II with a perfect 16-0 record over 18 appearances and 17 starts in the circle... ABOUT THE SERIES

- Midwestern State and UT Tyler meet for the seventh, eighth, and ninth time on the diamond Friday and Saturday in Tyler.
- The Patriots own a 5-1 lead in the series which dates back to the 2020 season.
- UTT won the last four meetings with the last three by run-rule in five innings.
- Lauren Lindgren delivered a three-run homer in the sixth inning to propel the Mustangs to a 7-5 win over No. 2-ranked UT Tyler in their only win in the series on March 8, 2020. It was the final game for either team in a season cut short by the coronavirus pandemic.

Midwestern State plays a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at East Central (Okla.). First pitches are set for 2 and 4 p.m. at Tiger Field in Ada.
