YOUNGSVILLE, La. -- Oklahoma Baptist used a three-run, sixth-inning rally to claim a 3-0 win over Midwestern State in the second game of the Mardi Gras Invitational Friday afternoon at the Youngsville Sports Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED >>>
Oklahoma Baptist setup the lone rally of the game with the Bison loaded the bases with one out in the top of the sixth inning.
Senior Sydney Adler led off with a pinch-hit single to center field, and sophomore Morgan Max followed with a single to right field.
Following a sacrifice bunt, Adi Reese drew a walk to load the bases.
Then OBU used small-ball tactics to plate three runs. Freshman Ally Ryan opened scoring with a sacrifice fly to right field, before Sammie Greene and Reagan Ford tacked on two more runs with infield hits.

- Midwestern State sophomore
Taylor McKenzie allowed three runs on seven hits over seven innings in her first start for the Mustangs. The transfer from Southwestern (Texas) issued five walks and recorded a pair of strikeouts.
- Junior shortstop
Chloe Bryant went 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
- Freshman second baseman
Kayla Bryant went 1-for-2 and is one of two MSU players to record hits in the first two games of the season.
- Junior center fielder
Jessika Roberts also collected a hit in MSU's games against Southeastern Oklahoma and Oklahoma Baptist.
- Sophomore Morgan Max, a transfer from UTA, pitched a three-hit shutout in her first start for Oklahoma Baptist. The lefty recorded seven strikeouts and no walks.
- Senior Adi Reese went 2-for-2 and drew a walk to let the Bison's seven-hit attack.
GAME NOTES >>>
- Midwestern State fell to 0-2 for just the fourth time in program history and for the fourth time since the start of the 2017 season.
- The Mustangs are 1-7 in neutral site games since the start of last season.
- Oklahoma Baptist has allowed one run over its first three games which includes shutouts against Texas A&M-Kingsville (6-0) and Midwestern State (3-0).
- Oklahoma Baptist leveled the all-time series against Midwestern State at 2-2. The Mustangs won the first two games of the series during the 2016 season in Shawnee, while OBU claimed neutral site wins in 2018 and 2023. The Bison make their first appearance in Wichita Falls next week at the MSU Round-up.
