WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Junior
Nikki Green buried five triples on her way to a season-high 20 points, leading hot shooting Midwestern State to a 68-56 win over Cameron in Lone Star Conference play Monday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs drilled a season-high 10 3-pointers, including an 8-for-11 barrage in the first half on the way to building a commanding 22-point lead midway through the third period.
Midwestern State (2-9) heads into the Christmas break on a two-game winning streak.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior
Nikki Green drilled four 3-pointers during a 16-0 run bridging the first and second periods, while
Kertisa Amos converted a pair of layups, allowing Midwestern State to stretch a slim 10-9 edge into a commanding 26-11 advantage when Green buried her fourth 3 of the run with 7:06 to play in the first half.
Green added her fifth trey of the opening half, while
Eternity Jackson drilled another in the closing minute as the Mustangs led by 10 at the break.
Catalina Cortez continued the roll for the Mustangs by connecting on two more 3-pointers at the beginning of the second half before MSU struck for a 9-0 run to take a 22-point lead after a pair of
Zarria Carter free throws expanded Midwestern's bulge to 50-28 with 4:45 to go in the third.

- Midwestern State junior
Nikki Green buried a season-high five 3-pointers on nine attempts on her way to a season-high 20 points. It was her fifth double-digit effort of the season.

Kertisa Amos logged her eighth double-figure performance in nine games this season. The senior forward posted 15 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Zarria Carter completed her second-straight double-double and fourth of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Eternity Jackson drained two long 3-pointers in the first half on her way to booking her third game with at least 10 points this season. She also dished a campaign-best four assists.

Catalina Cortez connected on a pair of 3-pointers to finish with a season-high eight points. She also added career bests with seven assists and five steals in a campaign-high 38 minutes.
- Junior guard Katie King paced Cameron with 18 points, while also logging five steals.
- Cameron junior Korie Allensworth recorded her first collegiate double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
GAME NOTES
- Midwestern State has won consecutive games for the first time since beating Arkansas-Fort Smith and Oklahoma Christian in the final two regular season games of 2021-22.
- The Mustangs have won back-to-back games against the Aggies and lead the Red River Rivalry, 51-34.
- MSU hit at least 10 3-pointers for the first time since going 10-for-22 from beyond the arc on Jan. 14, 2023 at UT Permian Basin.
- The Mustangs connected on 55.6 percent from the 3-point line which third highest percentage in single game with at least 10 made 3s. It is the best percentage since MSU went 10-for-17 (.588) including a 4-for-4 effort by Dianna Jones in a 91-58 win at Cameron on March 1, 2014.
- The then-Lady Indians shot a program-best 64.7 percent from 3-point range, going 11-for-17 in an 84-72 win at Texas Woman's on November 29, 1994. Renae Josselet hit five 3-points, while Stacy Franklin and Buffy Ferguson hit three each.
- Midwestern State controlled a 27-13 edge in points off of turnovers.
