WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's
Juan Galindo earned his second Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor Tuesday afternoon as released by league officials.
The senior from Dripping Springs solidified play on the back line, playing all 90 minutes of No. 2-ranked Midwestern State's 2-0 win over St. Mary's in the regular season finale.
Galindo has played a key role in helping the Mustangs post 10 clean sheets this season.
MSU ranks sixth in NCAA Division II in shutout percentage (0.611) and eighth in goals against average (0.611).
The Mustangs closed the regular season with the best record in program history in terms of winning percentage at 17-0-1 (.972).
Midwestern State hosts the Lone Star Confernece Postseason Tournament Friday and Sunday at Stang Park.
West Texas A&M and Dallas Baptist play the first semifinal Friday at 5 p.m., followed by Midwestern State and Oklahoma Christian at 7:30 p.m.
The semifinal winners play for the postseason tournament title and for the league's automatic qualification into the NCAA Division II playoffs Sunday at 1 p.m.
