A candid conversation with head basketball coach
Justin Leslie, who shares his thoughts about the men's basketball team and previews upcoming action for the Mustangs.
Following a disappointing finish to the 2022-23 season, the Mustangs have been building toward this season since last spring. Midwestern State has a much different team and one that has been preparing for Friday's season opener for quite a while. The preparation included a trip to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to play in the BLIA Cup University Basketball Tournament, which the Mustangs won with a 5-0 record. MSU hosted East Texas Baptist for an exhibition on Sunday and prevailed, 83-67. Now, the Mustangs are ready to break the seal on the new season. Colorado State-Pueblo will be the first opponent at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and Leslie is hoping to see the team get off to a fast start against the Thunderwolves. Saturday night, the Mustangs return to the floor to face UC Colorado Springs at 8 p.m.
