AMARILLO, Texas -- Senior
Robert Garcia fired a team-low 69 in the final round to help Midwestern State to a fourth-place showing in the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational Tuesday at the Amarillo Country Club.
Garcia was one of four Mustangs to card par-or-better rounds during tournament which helped MSU place fourth on the team leaderboard with scores of 292, 283, and 288 for an 11-over total of 863.
Garcia recorded three consecutive birdies on Holes 8-10 and added another on the fifth hole on the way to a 2-under 69. The Lewisville, Texas, native, who carded a pair of 75s on Monday, moved into a tie for 31st with a 6-over 219.
Sophomore
Seth Bearden (73-68-74) was the team's top finisher, tying for 13th with a 2-over 215, while senior
J.T. Boyd (74-70-73) tied for 22nd with a 4-over 217.
Junior
Gatlin Goad (72-76-72) and senior
Keaton Dickens (73-70-77) tied for 37th with 7-over totals of 222.
Senior
Ethan Dean (73-73-76) and redshirt-freshman
Hank Germany (77-78-79) tied for 49th and 83rd, respectively, while competing as individuals only.
Dallas Baptist (276-290-285) claimed the team title with a 1-under total of 851, winning by three strokes over host West Texas A&M (289-283-282).
UT Permian Basin senior Sangha Park (63-70-71) won individual medalist honors after surviving Colorado School of Mines' Lukas Taggart (68-68-68) in a one-hole playoffs. Park and Taggart tied through 54 holes with 9-under totals of 204.
Midwestern State competes next in the The Hrnciar on Oct. 16-17 at The Territory Golf Club in Duncan, Oklahoma.
