WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's
Daniel Yu earned Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors as announced by league officials Tuesday evening.
The senior defender from Irvine, California, played a key role in helping the Mustangs post their ninth clean sheet of the season Saturday against Eastern New Mexico.
He also displayed his ability to get forward while scoring a goal and adding an assist in Wednesday's 5-1 victory at Lubbock Christian.
The outside defender is a part of a back line unit which ranks eighth in NCAA Division II allowing a 0.60 goals against average.
Midwestern State can clinch its 13th league title since joining NCAA Division II with a win over St. Edward's Wednesday night at Stang Park. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
