AMARILLO, Texas -- Midwestern State's Seth Bearden riddled the Amarillo Country Club with six birdies to lead the Mustangs' second-round surge Monday in the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational at the Amarillo Country Club.

The Crowell, Texas, native birdied four Par-4s and a par-5s to surge into eighth place on the individual leaderboard with a 3-under 68 after firing a 2-over 73 in the opening round.

Bearden's 1-under total of 141 is eight strokes off of the pace of tournament leading Sangha Park of UT Permian Basin. Park followed a low round of 63 with a 70 to stand at 9-under with a total of 133 for a three-stroke lead over Lukas Taggert (68-68) of Colorado School of Mines.

Bearden was one of three Mustangs with par-or-better scores in the second round.

Seniors Keaton Dickens and J.T. Boyd logged three birdies each on the way to a 1-under 70s, while Robert Garcia delivered MSU's fourth score with a 4-over 75.

As a team, the Mustangs advanced six spots up the leaderboard with a 1-under 283 after carding a 292 in the opening round.

Dallas Baptist rode an opening round 276 to take the team lead, then finished with a 290 for a 2-under total of 566 to hold a four-stroke edge over UT Permian Basin (570/+2).

The Falcons are trailed by West Texas A&M (572/+4) and MSU (575/+7).

Dickens (73-70) is tied for 12th with a 1-over 143, while Boyd (74-70) tied for 18th with a 2-over 144.

Junior Gatlin Goad (72-76) tied for 46th with a 6-over total of 148, while Garcia (75-75) stands tied for 57th with an 8-over 150.

Senior Ethan Dean (73-73) tied for 35th with a 4-over 146, while redshirt-freshman Hank Germany (77-78) stood 80th with a 13-over total of 155.
The final round of the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational begins Tuesday morning at 8:30.
