WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State opens the 2022 season at No. 24 in the American Football Coaches' Association Division II Preseason Poll released Monday afternoon.
 
The Mustangs have received votes at some point in each of the last 16 seasons dating back to the 2006 season with the exception of 2020 when the AFCA did not release a poll.
 
Midwestern State is one of 13 teams from Super Region Four to receive mention in the poll joining No. 4  Colorado School of Mines, No. 7 Angelo State, No. 17 Western Colorado, No. 22 Bemidji State (Minn.), and No. 25 Augustana (S.D.).
 
Minnesota Duluth, Central Washington, Minnesota State, West Texas A&M, Colorado State-Pueblo, Colorado Mesa, and UT Permian Basin are receiving votes.
 
The Mustangs open the 2022 season by playing host to Colorado State-Pueblo on Saturday, September 3 at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
