Martinez Roca, Westwick earn ITA All-America honors

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Alex Martinez Roca and Ben Westwick combined to earn All-America Doubles honors as announced Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Martinez Roca and Westwick rolled to a 20-3 record playing each of their matches at No. 1 doubles closing the season ranked No. 6 in the ITA doubles rankings.

The duo becomes the first MSU doubles team to gain All-America honors since Brett Emerson and Zac Dillard claimed the honor in 2006.

Martinez Roca and Westwick won the ITA South Central Region doubles title in the fall, then claimed two wins in ITA Cup play to finish with an 11-2 fall record.

Martinez Roca and Westwick earned first-team All-Lone Star Conference honors on the way to setting a program record with a 20-3 record at No. 1 doubles.

Martinez Roca, a mechanical engineering graduate from Castelldefels, Spain, earned LSC Player of the Year and Senior of the Year honors this season finishing the campaign ranked 25th in the ITA Division II singles rankings.

Martinez Roca closes his career fifth on MSU's all-time combined wins list with 132 going 70-20 in singles play and 62-20 in doubles.

He earned first-team All-LSC honors on five occasions including singles in 2019, 2021 and 2022 and doubles in 2021 and 2022.

Westwick is a two-time ITA South Central Region doubles champion also winning with Alberto Diaz in 2018. 

The mechanical engineering graduate from Alaska by way of Houston twice earned All-LSC doubles accolades (2019, 2022), while gaining second-team singles mention this season.

Westwick was named to the LSC All-Academic team in each of the last two seasons and was an ITA Scholar Athlete in 2019 and 2020.
