WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Makenzee Boucher brings a mixture of speed, court vision and scoring ability to Midwestern State all the New Zealand.
The Mustangs announced the signing of the 5-7 guard to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday afternoon.
"Makenzee is a high IQ point guard. She has an amazing ability of reading the defense and finding her teammates as well as ways to score," MSU coach
Christopher Reay said. "She can also stretch the floor with her 3-point shot, and uses her speed to be a great defender. We are excited to welcome Kenzee to our Mustang family."
Boucher averaged 13 points, 4.4 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 steals in 16 games as a senior this season at Westlake Girls High School in Auckland. She shot 55 percent from the field and 71 percent from the free throw line to earn team most valuable player honors.
Boucher competed with the Wider Squad in the Women's National Basketball League -- the top women's level in New Zealand -- in 2021.
She was a member of the junior 3-on-3 national championship team in 2018 and helped her club squad claim the Auckland Senior A title.
Boucher helped Westlake placed third in the 2019 Secondary School Nationals and was recognized by New Zealand Talent Identification from 2016-20.
She participated in the Steven Adams Invitational in 2020 and 2021 and was a part of a runner-up finishing team in the Women's National Basketball D-League during the 2021 season.
Boucher intends to major in Business at Midwestern State.
