WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State added great size and skill Monday with the addition of Miami Prep standout Duncan Alevok.
"When I first saw Duncan play my first thought was that he's too good for us to recruit," MSU coach
Justin Leslie said. "To begin with he is 6-10, he's really athletic, he's a force on the defensive end, and he isn't afraid to mix it up and compete. However, with the way things are going in the transfer portal coaches are passing up on quality young players like Duncan. Fortunately, we found in Duncan someone who is highly motivated to work and develop which makes him a perfect fit for how we run our program."
Alevok opted to compete with Miami Prep School during the 2021-22 season after initially signing with local Division II powerhouse Barry in Miami Shores.
Alevok played at the varsity level since starting eighth grade at Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Prior to his senior campaign in 2020-21, Alevok transferred to highly regarded University School in Davie, Florida after leading the Admirals to a Sunshine State Athletic Conference Independent Championship while averaging 12 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots as a junior.
"I have no doubt that during his time at Midwestern State that Duncan will develop into a difference-maker on and off the court," Leslie said. "In addition to being a fantastic basketball talent he is a high-level student as he comes in with over a 4.0 GPA. I couldn't be more excited to add a young man of his caliber to our program."
Alevok intends to major in business or pre-med at Midwestern State.
He joins transfers Marquis Davison (Wallace Community College-Selma) and Mason Gibson (Oakland (Mich.)) and prep standouts Antwan Taylor (Harker Heights HS) and Jared Washington (Timberview HS) to fill out MSU's signing class of 2022.
