Midwestern State is 12th in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 5-13 league record... The Mustangs are in a stretch of facing ranked opponents in 12 out of 14 games beginning with No. 20 Texas A&M-Commerce on March 18 followed by No. 1 UT Tyler on March 20, No. 23 Oklahoma Christian on March 25, No. 14 Angelo State on April 1, No. 17 Lubbock Christian on April 3, and No. 20 West Texas A&M on April 8... Mikey Dominguez hit .387 (12-for-31) with a double, a triple, four homers and 10 RBIs during a 10-game stretch from March 4-18... Dominguez posted five two-hit games during the stretch connecting for four home runs... Dominguez smashed her fifth home run of the season during Game 1 last week at Oklahoma Christian, then went 3-for-3 with three RBIs including driving in the winning run in Game 2 at Cameron with a sacrifice fly...
HEAD COACH BRITTANIE TALLEY is in her first season at the helm of the Midwestern State program. Talley amassed a 129-75 record (.632) over the past five seasons at Vernon College including a 42-12 run while leading Chaps to the 2021 NJCAA regional tournament. That came on the heels of a 21-1 start in 2020 before the season was cut short by the pandemic. Prior to Vernon College, Talley played a role in a successful three-year run at Alabama State helping the Lady Hornets to a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) title and a trip to the NCAA Division I regionals in 2016. She competed professionally for the Skovde Saints winning the Swedish championship as the league's pitcher of the year in 2011. She enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Jackson State where she earned second-team All-SWAC honors earning 27 career wins while posting seven shutouts. She also hit .320 in 172 career at bats.

Lubbock Christian won 10 of its last 13 with the losses coming in a doubleheader sweep against Texas A&M-Commerce and a split against UT Tyler... The Lady Chaps are in a four-way tie for second place in the Lone Star Conference standings at 14-4 with UT Tyler, St. Mary's and Oklahoma Christian two games behind Texas A&M-Commerce... Lubbock Christian ranks third in the LSC in hitting (.348 team batting average), sixth in pitching (2.53 team ERA) and eighth in fielding (.960 fielding percentage)... During Lone Star Conference play, the Lady Chaps lead the league in hitting (.343), rank sixth in pitching (3.17) and 12th in fielding (.950)... Lubbock Christian ranks eighth in NCAA Division II and second in the LSC with 46 home runs led by senior Kasey Flores with 11 homers, while junior Skylar Herrera and senior Brooke Makemson have eight, and senior Tyla Lee has hit seven... ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Lubbock Christian meet for the eighth and ninth times on the diamond Sunday afternoon at Mustangs Park. The Mustangs lead the series which dates back to the 2015 season by a 4-3 margin. The Lady Chaps swept its first Lone Star Conference doubleheader against MSU last season in Lubbock. Midwestern claimed the first two matchups between the programs meeting at the North Texas Softball Bash in 2015 in Mansfield. MSU competed in LCU's early season invitational on three occasions falling to the Lady Chaps in 2016 then claimed wins in 2018 and 2019. The doubleheader on Sunday marks Lubbock Christian's first trip to Wichita Falls.
