No. 40 MSU hammers No. 35 Cameron 5-2 at home to remain undefeated in LSC

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- No. 40 Midwestern State upset No. 35 Cameron in Tuesday's Lone Star Conference battle at MSU Tennis Center. Stefan Andrei clinched his second match for MSU at singles line six in the 5-2 win.

The Mustangs remain undefeated in LSC play with a 5-0 record and move to 12-6 for the year. The Aggies drop to 2-2 in the conference and hold a 9-7 tally for the spring season.

Alex Martinez Roca and Ben Westwick, the second-ranked duo in the nation, won their ninth consecutive match. The pair is 15-1 for the year and undefeated in LSC play. Their win handed Tomas Almeida and Thomas Cardona their first loss at line one this season.

Brice Bradshaw and Corbin Ford pushed their win streak to four matches at line two. The duo has one loss this season but stands undefeated in conference matches. Bradshaw and Ford's 6-4 score gave Kristian Kubik and Carlos Vidal their first defeat at line two.

Marcal Miret Avante turned in a straight-set win over Kubik. The freshman is 4-0 at singles line four and has 12 wins this year. Miret Avante has a 4-1 tally in conference play. Kubkik lost his last four battles for the Aggies.

Westwick has back-to-back singles victories after his win at line three. The junior is one of two Mustangs with a 5-0 LSC singles record. Vidal drops his second straight match after the loss.

Andrei is MSU's other undefeated Lone Star player. The freshman has eight consecutive wins to push to a 7-0 tally at line six. He has not dropped a match since March 11. Andrei's 6-3, 7-5 win gave Joao Duleba his sixth defeat of the season.

Charles Heffernan finished the day with a three-set victory over Sean Batkis at line five. The junior rises to a 10-6 record in all singles play. He is 6-4 at line five while Batkis is 0-3 in LSC matches.

Midwestern State heads to San Antonio, Texas, for their last Lone Star Conference road match. The 40th-ranked Mustangs and the Rattlers face off on Friday, April 15. The first serve is set for 10 a.m. at Rohrbach Stadium Tennis Complex.
