OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma Christian extended its winning streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep of Midwestern State Friday afternoon at Tom Heath Field.
The Eagles improve to 22-8 overall and 10-4 in league play, while MSU fell to 5-24 and 4-10.
GAME 1 | Oklahoma Christian 9, Midwestern State 1 (5 innings)
Oklahoma Christian's Brooklin Bain posted three hits, connected on her first home run of the season and drove in three runs to lead the 23rd-ranked Eagles to a 9-1 run-rule win in five innings over Midwestern State in Game 1.
Aaliyah Brown and Chloe Woodward posted identical lines with two hits a double and two RBIs as the Eagles scored a run in the first inning, four in the second, three in the fourth and one more in the fifth to win their seventh consecutive game.
Midwestern State freshman
Mikey Dominguez launched her fifth home run over the left-field fence in the top of the second inning to account for the Mustangs' lone run of the game.
Kali Crandall improved to 10-6 in the circle for OC allowing one run on two hits in the five-inning complete game. The junior from Artesia, N.M. recorded six strikeouts.
Kennedy Cameron (3-8) took the loss for the Mustangs allowing eight earned runs on 12 hits in four innings.
GAME 2 | Oklahoma Christian 5, Midwestern State 0
Oklahoma Christian senior Lindsey Stoeckel weaved a four-hit shutout for her first shutout of the season to lead the Eagles to a 5-0 win in Game 2.
Ryan Gamble drove in a pair of runs on two hits including a RBI single through the right side of the infield in the third inning and a bunt single in the fifth to lead the Eagles' eight-hit attack.
Sophomore Hannah Pate drove in Brooklin Bain to stake the Eagles to a 1-0 lead with a run scoring single to left field in the first before Abby LaValley delivered an RBI double to highlight a three-run third inning.
Stoeckel did not allow a baserunner until
Ashley Turner reached an infield single to lead off the fourth inning.
The Mustangs threatened in the seventh inning with
Payton Griffin reaching on an infield single to third base then advanced to third on
Peyton Lee's one-out double to the left-field gap.
But Stoeckel put down the next two batters with her ninth and 10th strikeouts to cinch the shutout and improve to 5-0 in the circle.
Lee allowed five earned runs on eight hits over six inning in her first start of the season.
