WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- No. 44 Midwestern State push to 5-5 record after completing their third sweep of the season. The Mustangs took a 7-0 score over Emporia State at MSU Tennis Center on Tuesday.
Ben Westwick and
Alex Martinez Roca tallied a 6-1 win over Theo Belmonte and Sergio Vera Martin at the No. 1 spot. The second-ranked duo are 7-1 on the season.
Brice Bradshaw and
Quentin Scharfenberg secured their second victory of the season at the No. 2 spot. The pair defeated Luiz Maia and Andy Graf by a 6-1 score.
Marcal Miret Avante and
Stephen Slocombe overtook Pablo Carranza and Cameron Kienholz. The freshman went 6-1 at the third line to post a 3-4 record.
No. 14 Martinez Roca buried Maia at the top singles line. For his second victory of the year, the junior tallied a 6-0, 6-1 score.
Charles Heffernan holds a 6-3 record after securing a 6-2, 6-1 tally over Graf at No. 4. The junior is 3-1 when playing at the fourth spot for the Mustangs.
Brice Bradshaw had a 7-5, 4-1 score when Belmonte retired at the second line.
Westwick snapped his slide with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the third spot over Vera Martin. Westwick is 3-6 overall and 1-1 at No. 3.
Stefan Andrei collected a 6-1, 6-1 score at the fifth line to land a W against Jaden Tredway. The freshman is 3-5 in all singles play and 1-0 at No. 5.
Scharfenberg finished the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Lleyton Fosha at No. 6. This was the redshirt sophomore's first singles win of the season and he holds a 1-1 record.
Midwestern State is back in action on Tuesday, March 15, at MSU Tennis Center. The Mustangs face Hastings College with a 2 p.m. start time.
