WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State meets St. Edward's for a Lone Star Conference doubleheader Monday afternoon at Mustangs Park. First pitches are set for noon and 2 p.m.

The games were originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon, but the entire weekend slate was moved back a day due to frigid temperatures on Friday.

The games are set for broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network at MSUMustangs.com/streaming.

Midwestern State fell to 3-16 and 2-4 in Lone Star Conference after suffering a doubleheader sweep Saturday against St. Mary's falling 10-6 in the first game and 10-1 in five innings in the second... The Mustangs rank 14th in the LSC in hitting (.262 team batting average), 15th in pitching (6.96 team ERA) and 12th in fielding (.945 fielding percentage)... Senior Ashley Turner ranks 22nd in the LSC with a .413 batting average... Turner also ranks 15th in the LSC in slugging percentage at .762... Turner had a season-best eight-game hitting streak snapped in Game 1 against St. Mary's... During the streak, Turner hit .467 (14-of-30) with three doubles, three homers and eight RBIs... Turner was held without a hit in four at bats ending a run of 23 consecutive games that reached base... Turner connected for her fifth homer of the season and 10th of her career in Game 2 against the Rattlers... Junior Bailey Brenek ranks second on the team and 28th in the LSC hitting .396 with seven doubles, a triple, a homer and 14 RBIs... Brenek boasts multiple hits in nine games this season... Sophomore Hanna Hetherington launched two homers in her second consecutive game during Saturday's opener against St. Mary's. It has also her third straight game with a home run... Hetherington has six homers in the 19 games since hitting her first homer of the season on Feb. 19 at Ouachita Baptist and is averaging a home run every 6.5 at bats during the run... Hetherington has reached base in 16 of MSU's 19 games this season... Freshman Mikey Dominguez blasted her first collegiate home run in Game 1 on March 6 at Western New Mexico, then belted her second in the nightcap... Dominguez posted four consecutive two-hit games from March 4 against UT Permian Basin to March 12 against St. Mary's...Senior Daylan Inkman constructed a four-game hitting streak going 7-for-18 (.389) with a double, a homer and five RBIs from March 4-12... Freshman Sabrina Graf has a hit in each of her last five games including a three-hit game with two doubles and three RBIs in Game 1 at Western New Mexico on Sunday... Graf is hitting .571 (8-for-14) during the streak with two doubles and three RBIs...Sophomore Kerris Cameron is hitting .353 with six hits in 17 at bats this season accounting for three doubles and a triple over eight games and five starts... 

HEAD COACH BRITTANIE TALLEY is in her first season at the helm of the Midwestern State program. Talley amassed a 129-75 record (.632) over the past five seasons at Vernon College including a 42-12 run while leading Chaps to the 2021 NJCAA regional tournament. That came on the heels of a 21-1 start in 2020 before the season was cut short by the pandemic. Prior to Vernon College, Talley played a role in a successful three-year run at Alabama State helping the Lady Hornets to a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) title and a trip to the NCAA Division I regionals in 2016. She competed professionally for the Skovde Saints winning the Swedish championship as the league's pitcher of the year in 2011. She enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Jackson State where she earned second-team All-SWAC honors earning 27 career wins while posting seven shutouts. She also hit .320 in 172 career at bats.

St. Edward's (10-8, 3-4 LSC) split its last two Lone Star Conference twin bills against Texas A&M International and Texas Woman's... The Hilltoppers rank ninth in the LSC in hitting (.306 team batting average), seventh in pitching (2.58 team ERA) and fourth in fielding (.974 team fielding percentage)... Freshman Megan Morris led SEU hitting .457 with nine doubles, a triple and 12 RBIs prior to the Saturday's twin bill at Texas Woman's... Senior Genisa Marrero-Carter hits .456 with five doubles, two triples, a homer and five RBIs.... Sophomore McKenna Leamon leads the Hilltoppers in the circle posting a 4-2 record with a 2.93 ERA... Leamon has allowed 13 earned runs on 29 hits in 40 innings while posting 42 strikeouts and 28 walks... 

ABOUT THE SERIES

Midwestern State and St. Edward's meet for the 24th and 25th times on the diamond Monday afternoon at Mustangs Park. MSU owns a 12-11 edge in the series which dates back to the 2004 season. The Hilltoppers have won the last three meetings between the programs including a doubleheader sweep (6-4 and 6-3) last season in Austin. St. Edward's returns to Wichita Falls for the first time since taking losses to MSU in two separate invitationals. Kim Jerrick blasted three homers in a 7-0 win for Midwestern State on March 27 just a little more than three weeks after Elena Bennett extended her hitting streak to a program-best 18 games in a 13-5 run-rule in five innings on March 5 at Mustangs Park. Overall, Midwestern State is 3-1 against the Hilltoppers in Wichita Falls which also includes a split at the Sunrise Optimist Complex during MSU's inaugural season of 2004.
