WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State faces No. 16 Central Oklahoma in a home opening doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Mustangs Park. First pitches are set for 3 and 5 p.m.

The game is set to broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network at MSUMustangs.com/streaming.

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS

Junior Ashley Turner leads the hitting .424 with four doubles, three homers and 10 RBI... Turner ranks 13th in the LSC with a .818 slugging percentage and is 16th in OPS at 1.290... Turner has reached base and each of MSU's 11 games this season and in 17 consecutive games dating back to last season... Turner has a hit in 10 of MSU's 11 games this season... Turner hit .440 (11-of-25) with four doubles and a homer during an eight-game hitting streak from Feb. 11-20... Turner connected for the second two-homer game of her career Sunday afternoon at Northeastern State... Sophomore Bailey Brenek is hitting .407 with five doubles and five RBI... Brenek boasts a team-best five multiple-hit games... Sophomore Hanna Hetherington has reached base in each of her last seven games and in nine of 11 games this season... Freshman Mikey Dominguez reached base in each of her last five games and has reached in 10 of 11 games this season... 

HEAD COACH BRITTANIE TALLEY is in her first season at the helm of the Midwestern State program. Talley amassed a 129-75 record (.632) over the past five seasons at Vernon College including a 42-12 run while leading Chaps to the 2021 NJCAA regional tournament. That came on the heels of a 21-1 start in 2020 before the season was cut short by the pandemic. Prior to Vernon College, Talley played a role in a successful three-year run at Alabama State helping the Lady Hornets to a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) title and a trip to the NCAA Division I regionals in 2016. She competed professionally for the Skovde Saints winning the Swedish championship as the league's pitcher of the year in 2011. She enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Jackson State where she earned second-team All-SWAC honors earning 27 career wins while posting seven shutouts. She also hit .320 in 172 career at bats.

ABOUT THE BRONCHOS

Central Oklahoma has rolled to 10 consecutive wins since dropping consecutive games to St. Mary's (9-8) and UT Tyler (17-4) in the Arkansas Tech Invitational... The Bronchos lead the MIAA with a .337 team batting average and are second in the league posting a 2.91 team ERA... Sophomore outfielder Jacee Minter ranks fifth in the MIAA hitting .467 with seven doubles, a triple, three homers and 21 RBIs... Minter had a six-game hitting streak snapped last time out against East Central (2/21)... Sophomore Shayleigh Odom ranks seventh in the MIAA with a .441 average... UCO boasts seven hitters carrying at least a .300 season average including Amelya Huggins (.364), Terin Ritz (.333), Lexy Dobson (.324) and Tarin Dubler (.300)... Sophomore Kylee Lynch tops the MIAA with a 1.42 ERA... Lynch allowed 11 earned and just 35 hits in 54 1/3 innings limiting the opposition to a .188 batting average... Lynch is 8-0 with two shutouts... 

ABOUT THE SERIES

Midwestern State and Central Oklahoma meet for the 54th and 55th time on the diamond Wednesday afternoon at Mustangs Park. The Bronchos own a 29-24 edge in the series which dates back to the 2004 season. UCO has won the last eight meetings including a 9-0 run-rule victory in five innings earlier this season in Edmond. MSU last beat the Bronchos in a doubleheader sweep on March 26, 2013. The Mustangs won the first game 15-6 in six innings before taking the nightcap, 4-1. Midwestern State is 7-8 against the Bronchos at Mustangs Park since the facility opened in 2008. The Mustangs are 14-9 all-time against UCO in games played in Wichita Falls.
