TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Midwestern State takes on Northeastern State in a non-conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at RiverHawks Park. First pitches are set for noon and 2 p.m.

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS

Midwestern State looks to snap a six-game slide with four of the losses coming by a single run... Sophomore Bailey Brenek leads the Mustangs with a .435 average with four doubles and four RBIs... Brenek boasts five two-hit games through MSU's first nine games... Junior Ashley Turner is hitting .423 with four doubles, a homer and a team-high seven RBIs... Turner had a 10-game hitting streak snapped last Sunday against Texas A&M-Kingsville... Brenek and Turner rank fourth in the Lone Star Conference with 0.44 doubles per game... Freshman Mikey Dominguez broke out with a two-hit game including her first triple of the season last Sunday against Henderson State... Dominguez leads the LSC drawing six walks in 22 plate appearances... Sophomore Kennedy Cameron allowed two earned runs on nine hits in 9 2/3 innings in games against Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State last weekend for a 1.45 ERA... Cameron struck out four against OBU then upped her season high to five in three relief innings against Henderson State... 

HEAD COACH BRITTANIE TALLEY is in her first season at the helm of the Midwestern State program. Talley amassed a 129-75 record (.632) over the past five seasons at Vernon College including a 42-12 run while leading Chaps to the 2021 NJCAA regional tournament. That came on the heels of a 21-1 start in 2020 before the season was cut short by the pandemic. Prior to Vernon College, Talley played a role in a successful three-year run at Alabama State helping the Lady Hornets to a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) title and a trip to the NCAA Division I regionals in 2016. She competed professionally for the Skovde Saints winning the Swedish championship as the league's pitcher of the year in 2011. She enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Jackson State where she earned second-team All-SWAC honors earning 27 career wins while posting seven shutouts. She also hit .320 in 172 career at bats.

ABOUT THE RIVERHAWKS

Northeastern State has won four of its last seven games... The RiverHawks posted a 2-3 mark at the Edmond Regional Softball Classic II last weekend posting wins over Chadron State and Cameron... Junior Alyssia Crick leads NSU hitting .419 with a double, three home runs and nine RBIs... Sophomore Rhomie Bradshaw (.367, 2 2B, 4 HR, 8 RBI), senior Sydney Balderrama (.350, 2 2B, 3 HR, 4 RBI) and sophomore Jaeden Rosenquist (.344, 7 RBIs) give the RiverHawks four batters hitting better than .300 in the order... Northeastern State is hitting .289 as a team and averaging 5.5 runs per game... Sophomore Savannah Evans has posted a 2.47 ERA allowing eight earned runs (22 total runs) on 25 hits in 22 2/3 innings over seven appearances and four starts...
