Mustangs renew Red River Rivalry with trip to Cameron

LAWTON, Okla. -- Midwestern State is on the road Saturday for its first of two meetings with Cameron this season. Tipoff at Aggie Gym is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Series History | Midwestern State leads, 49-33

LAST MEETING | Cameron scored 27 points off 33 turnovers and set a program record with 26 steals in an 81-46 victory at D.L. Ligon Coliseum last season. The Aggies never trailed in the game and led 23-10 at the end of the first quarter. Katie King had 11 steals for the Aggies and finished with 14 points. Midwestern State was held to 28.6 percent shooting and was just 2 of 16 from 3-point range. Shawnisay Millar finished with nine points and four rebound for the Mustangs. Millar also had a steal and a block. Sheridan Bostic pitched in seven points and grabbed six rebounds for Midwestern State. Mandy Withey led MSU with eight boards, and Jordan Mathis pulled down seven rebounds for the Mustangs. Markayla Johnson had six points and three steals in the loss.

LAST TIME OUT | Midwestern State's Dyamon Griggs scored 22 points after the start of the fourth period including the game tying 3-pointer in regulation and winning shot in the closing seconds of the second overtime lifting the Mustangs to an 82-81 win Monday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Griggs and Kennedi Green combined for 29 of Midwestern State's 33 points in the fourth quarter as the Mustangs overcame a 14-point deficit to force overtime. Griggs posted her second 20-point effort of her career finishing with a game-high 26 points. The Waco native connected on 8-of-14 shots from the field and was 9-of-12 from the charity stripe. She also matched a career high with seven rebounds. Green scored a season-high 16 points powered by a 12-of-16 effort from the charity stripe. She was 8-of-10 from the free-throw line in the fourth period. Green also dished out a season-best six assists. Mandy Withey matched a career high by grabbing 13 rebounds for the third time in her last five games. Seven of the boards came on the offensive end of the floor. Midwestern State blocked a season-high 10 shots against St. Mary's on Monday led by Withey and Millar with three each.
