WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State shot a season-high 50 percent from the field, but St. Edward's was 11 of 27 from 3-point range and defeated the Mustangs at D. L. Ligon Coliseum on Saturday night, 79-75.
HOW IT HAPPENED >>>
St. Edward's hit 8 of 17 3-point attempts in the first half and led 42-39 at halftime.
Sean Elkington of St. Edward's scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half. The freshman forward was 2 of 16 from 3-point range before the game, but he hit both of his attempts from beyond the arc in the first half and finished the game 3 of 4 from long distance.
Senior guard Uche Dibiamaka scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half, and he pulled down five of his six rebounds in the opening 20 minutes for the Hilltoppers.
Midwestern State outrebounded the Hilltoppers, 36-32, and had 14 second-chance points on 11 offensive rebounds. St. Edward's had six second-chance points on nine offensive rebounds.
St. Edward's was 32 of 64 from the field overall, and MSU was 30 of 60 from the field. The Mustangs were 5 of 15 from 3-point range.
Midwestern State sophomore guard
Jordan Teal was 5 of 5 from the floor in the first half and scored 10 points. Teal missed all three of his shots in the second half.

Jermane Carter had a season-high 19 points on 7 of 15 shooting and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for the Mustangs.

Pierre Sanders poured in 13 points on 5 of 9 shooting from the field and also finished with seven rebounds and seven assists for MSU.

Marquis Davison scored in double figures for the third time in four games, pitching in 10 points on 4 of 6 shooting for the Mustangs. Davison is shooting 73.7 percent from the field in his last two games combined. (14 of 19).
- Elkington led St. Edward's with 20 points and was one of six Hilltoppers in double figures. Uche Dibiamamka and Mason Hix each scored 12 points. Blake Nielsen, Gavino Ramos and Jeff Gary all had 10 points in the victory for the Hilltoppers.

- Midwestern State suffered its third straight loss to fall to 2-6 on the season, while moving to 0-3 in Lone Star Conference play.
- The Mustangs shot 15-of-27 (55.6 percent) in the second half and finished above the 40-percent mark for the fifth consecutive game at 50 percent.
- St. Edward's did not take foul shot until the 3:17 mark of the second half. The Hilltoppers finished 4 of 6 at the free-throw line. Midwestern State was 10 of 15 at the free-throw line.
- Midwestern State leads the all-time series, 18-11, but is 4-5 in the last nine meetings. The Hilltoppers have won three of their last five visits to D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
