WICHITA FALLS, Texas --Kelli Ell accounted for 13 points and Aaliyah Burras was responsible for 12.5 as Midwestern State (4-16, 2-6) ended a six-match losing streak with a 25-22, 25-19, 25-22 victory over Cameron (5-17, 0-8) at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Saturday afternoon. Ell had 12 kills and hit .385 for the Mustangs. Burras, who made four blocks, had 10 kills and hit .500 in the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED >>>
The first set featured 12 ties and five lead changes but Midwestern State won five of the last seven points as Ell and Burras each had two kills in the decisive run for the Mustangs, who dominated the second set. MSU raced out to an eight-point lead and never let the Aggies get closer than four points in the pivotal second set. The third set saw nine ties and two lead changes, but Sadie Portmann had two kills, and Autumn Roach closed out the match with her third service ace, as Midwestern State won three of the last four points.
