Stoker loads 14 kills in Mustangs' drop to Lady Chaps

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – In their second Lone Star Conference match of the season, Midwestern State took off strong to win set one, but Lubbock Christian came back to take the next three. The Mustangs fall to (3-9, 0-2 LSC) with the 1-3 (25-17, 13-25, 18-25, 17-25) defeat by the Lady Chaps (8-4, 4-0 LSC).

"I think we played a great first set, we just have to continue to improve and excute for a full match," said Head Coach Valerie Armstrong.
 
Kaitlynn Stoker completed her second-best attacking game of the season, smashing 14 kills against LCU. The senior notched a .273 hitting percent in four sets for the Mustangs. Sage Post knocked down ten kills for Lubbock Christian.
 
Midwestern State picked up 13 kills as a team and added an ace to gain 25 while the Lady Chaps collected eight kills for 17 points in set number one.
 
Alyssa Estrada-Hamby registered her best game of the season with eight kills and a match-best .625 hitting percent. The sophomore walled up two block assists too. Lissette Lefforge was the team block leader for MSU with six and added six knock downs. Hannah Froeschl led LCU with seven blocks.
 
The Mustangs grabbed ten kills while Lubbock Christian made 11 in set two. Two aces helped the Lady Chaps to 25 points and seven attack errors kept Midwestern State at 13.
 
Lauryn Bourne was the attack leader for both teams, coming in with 34 tries. She also recorded 15 digs and 7 kills. Jalee Simms topped LCU in assists with 31 and digs with 14.
 
Set three was close for MSU as they completed 18 points with 15 kills. Lubbock Christian made 14 kills and one ace for 25 points.
 
Autumn Roach made 22 assists to gain 243 on the season. Reagan Willms followed closely with 17. Amy DeWalt notched 14 digs on the match.
 
In the final set, the Mustangs put down ten kills for 17 points while the Lady Chaps made 12 kills for 25 points.

"We grew as a team this weekend and I'm looking forward to next week and where we are headed," said Armstrong.
 
Midwestern State starts their road conference schedule with two match-ups at Dallas Baptist and Texas Woman's on Oct. 1 and 2. Both matches will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference network.
