DALLAS, Texas -- Taylor Anderson ties her season-high nine kills in Midwestern State's fourth straight loss of the season. Dallas Baptist won 3-0 (22-25, 16-25, 23-25) in a tough match at Berg Center. The Mustangs are at 3-10 for 2021 and 1-4 in Lone Star Conference play.

"We have to continue to focus on taking care of our side of the net," said Head Coach
Valerie Armstrong. "We had some nice coverage plays today."

Set one was closely played by both teams with eight ties and six lead changes to start the match. Of MSU's 14 kills,
Lauryn Bourne contributed five and finished the night with eight. The sophomore added five digs and one service ace. She adds 26 attacks to total 1,184 for her career.

DBU gained 15 kills in the first set with Halee Van Poppel notching six. Van Poppel led both teams with 13 smashes and a block assist for 13.5 points.

In set number two, Midwestern State knocked down nine hits and added an ace by Reagan Willms. The freshman setter topped the Mustangs with 14 assists on the night. She also passed ten digs on the defensive side. Willms aces are up to 14 on the season while her helpers sit at 168.

The Lady Patriots landed eleven kills with three block assists, including one from Alyssa Parks. Parks collected four block assists with four kills.

In what would be the final set, MSU was right on the cusp of taking it from Dallas Baptist. Midwestern State recorded 11 smashes with Anderson including four. The senior had nine points in three sets with a .333 hitting percent.

DBU registered 12 kills in the third set with four blocks. Aryn Walton grabbed 17 assists with Kayla Brock close behind with 14.

Amy DeWalt was the top passer for the Mustangs with 15 digs on the back line.
Kaitlynn Stoker and
Lissette Lefforge contributed six and seven kills, respectively.

"We have to continue to be consistent with the things we can control," said Armstrong. "We will regroup to compete for tomorrow."

Midwestern State has a quick bounce back as they head to Denton, Texas, to take on Texas Woman's. The Saturday afternoon match begins at 2 p.m. at Kitty Magee Arena.
