WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- No. 23 Midwestern State looks to continue their three match winning streak against No. 9 Rogers State on Saturday night. The Mustangs' second match of the weekend will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Stang Park.

FIVE STORY LINES

1 |  Trevor Amann is a force to be reckoned with this season as the 2020 LSC Player of the Year and Forward of the Year ranks in the top of the conference and nation in multiple categories. With his three assists on the year, he leads the Lone Star Conference and is third in NCAA Division II. The forward's four goals is top in the LSC and NCAA while his 11 points gains the same feat.

2 |  Within the start of the season, Carlos Flores has notched his 19th goal in his Mustang career. The senior also collected his 61st point after amassing 19 goals and 23 assists. In addition, Flores surpassed 100 career shots (107) and is not far from breaking into MSU's record book. He needs just 5 more shots to match Anthony Ramirez and Ahmad Ihmeidan's records of 112.

3 |  Midwestern State's defense has been impressive over their first competitions. The back line allowed only three goals in 180 minutes, which includes an own goal against Northeastern State. Carlos Vargas anchored the defense during the entirety of all three games and also notched five shots versus the Hawks. The senior earned his first LSC Defensive Player of the Week award. Nathan Clifford contributed a big 256 minutes over the season and recorded two shots. Marc-Antoine Huzen commanded between the posts to register ten saves in 20 shots faced. The senior allowed only three goals in three wins and also notched LSC Goalkeeper of the Week last week.

4 | It's not quite time for Lone Star Conference play, but eight of the nine LSC teams were in action this week. MSU currently leads in the standings as the only team with three wins with West Texas A&M right behind as the only other team that has played that doesn't have a loss.

HEAD COACH MICHAEL MEACHUM is beginning his fourth season as head coach of the Midwestern State men's soccer program. This will also be his tenth year overall at MSU including his first seven as an assistant. As Doug Elder's right-hand man, Meachum helped the Mustangs reach two NCAA Regional finals and the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Tournament. After taking the helm, the Bethany College graduate pushed the team to LSC Conference Tournament Champions in 2019 and the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2018 and 2019. Meachum has coached at many levels including NAIA at Bethany College (Kan.) and Hastings College (Neb.), Division I at Oral Roberts and Division II at Northeastern State and Midwestern State.

SERIES WITH THE HILLCATS

Midwestern State and Rogers State started their history in 2013 and have since then tallied nine matches. The Mustangs have won eight of the nine and tied one match in 2017 1-1. MSU has rallied a perfect 5-0 record at home against the Hillcats and look to add one more on Saturday. The last two meetings between RSU and MSU were in 2018. The Mustangs took home a 3-1 win on 9/13 in Wichita Falls, Texas, and a 4-1 victory on 10/20 in Claremore, Okla.
