WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 19 Midwestern State used a strong singles peformance to take a 6-1 win over winless Western New Mexico Saturday at the MSU Tennis Center.
After stumbling in doubles, the Mustangs (9-5, 4-1 LSC) claimed comfortable straight set wins on each singles line to send Western New Mexico to its 11th consecutive loss.

Ben Westwick sparked momentum for MSU with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Erik Dallman at No. 3 before senior
Angel Palacios beat Joaquin Delpino 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.
Sophomore
Alexandre Crepy pushed the Mustangs' advantage to 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Rodrigo Mere on the No. 4 line, then junior
Alex Martinez Roca scored the clincher taking a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Jonathan Vega at No. 1.
Quentin Scharfenberg (6-1, 6-1) and
Jean Muniz (6-1, 6-0) finished the singles' sweep with wins at the Nos. 5 and 6 lines, respectively.
Brice Bradshaw and Scharfenberg kicked off the day with a 6-1 win over Lazius Brown and Jace Crawford at No. 2 doubles, but Western New Mexico bounced back to claim the doubles' point.
MSU steps out of conference to take on No. 3-ranked Baylor in exhibition play Tuesday night in Waco. First serve at Summers Tennis Center is set for 6 p.m.
