Mustangs improve but fall to No. 12 Flagler in ITA Indoors

EDMOND, Okla. – Midwestern State women's tennis played in the consolation round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Saturday, Feb. 27, against No. 12 Flagler College (Fla.). The Mustangs, ranked at No. 16 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings, grabbed one point from doubles play before Flagler won out in singles 1-4.

Doubles went almost perfect as two MSU pairs won their sets. At no. 1 doubles, Tiffany Hollebeck and Casie Curry beat out Eden Schlagenhauf and Luisa Hrda 6-1. Ethne Dowling and Skylar Minns also completed their 7-5 win over Anika Nissen and Amelie Vossgaetter at no. 3 doubles.

Unfortunately, Emilija Visic and Anda Ghinga fell 4-6 to Alessandra Traub and Florencia Massardo at no. 2.

The singles sets claimed the victory for the Saints. Ghinga lost 1-6, 0-6 to Hrda at no. 2 singles and No. 43 Curry fell 4-6, 4-6 to Traub at no. 3.

At no. 5, Vossgaetter overcame Minns 6-1, 6-1 while no. 6 saw Dowling fall to Massardo 3-6, 3-6.

Visic took a set from No. 28 Nissen at no. 4 singles and in the unfished match at 6-2, 2-6, 1-0. Last, but not least, Hollebeck dropped to No. 14 Schlagenhauf 4-6, 5-5 unfinished.
