SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Midwestern State claimed wins over William Jewell (Mo.) and Southwest Baptist (Mo.) Saturday afternoon at Meador Park to take three of four games at the Drury Invitational.
The Mustangs, who improved to 7-3, had their tournament finale with Upper Iowa canceled due to a soggy forecast. MSU was slated to face Peacocks Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
Midwestern State opens Lone Star Conference play next weekend with doubleheaders against UT Permian Basin on Friday and Western New Mexico on Sunday.

GAME 1: MIDWESTERN STATE 4, WILLIAM JEWELL 2
Jacey Henry came within one out of completing her first shutout of the season and was electric at the plate in a 4-2 win over William Jewell Saturday afternoon.
The senior from Marietta, Okla. went 2-for-4 including a triple and her team-best fourth homer of the season driving in four runs.
Henry carried a shutout into the seventh inning before allowing consecutive two-out, pinch it singles allowing the Cardinals to claw back to within two runs.
She allowed just those two runs on four hits in seven innings to win her third consecutive decision to improve to 3-1.
Henry accounted for all four of MSU's runs connecting on a three-run homer in a third inning before chasing
Mattye Tyler to the plate with a triple in the fifth.
Tyler reached on her team-high seventh double of the season, while
Carson Solis,
Ashley Turner and
Bailey Brenek also collected safeties for the Mustangs.
GAME 2: MIDWESTERN STATE 4, SOUTHWEST BAPTIST 3
Sophomore
Ashley Turner ripped a game-tying, three-run homer to left-field and
Jacey Henry doubled in the winning run to cap a four-run bottom of the seventh to lift Midwestern State to rousing 4-3 come-from-behind win over Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon in the Drury Invitational.
The outburst culminated a 3-1 showing for the Mustangs during weekend play as MSU improved to 7-3 on the season.
Mattye Tyler extended her hitting streak to eight games by going 3-for-4 with three doubles against the Bearcats. The sophomore from Millsap completed tournament play going 9-for-13 at the plate to hit .692 with eight two-baggers.
The Mustangs' seventh inning heroics spoiled a solid outing by SBU starter Hallie Henderson, who carried a shutout into the final frame. She took the loss to fall to 0-2 allowing four unearned runs on nine hits.
Ashley Turner's three-run homer was her fourth of the season.
Freshman
Kaitlyn Turner improved to 3-1 in the circle holding Southwest Baptist to one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts in seven innings.
