WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State fell four spots to No. 8 in the third edition of the Super Region Four rankings released Monday afternoon by the NCAA Division II Football Committee.
The top seven teams in each region advance to the postseason commencing Nov. 20 at campus locations.
The NCAA Division II playoff field is set for release via a selection on NCAA.com on Sunday, Nov. 14.
Midwestern State is 6-2 against Division II opponents and 5-2 against in-region foes, boasting a D2 weighted schedule strength of .509 with a performance indicator of 24.625 which is seventh in the region.
If the playoffs started today, top-seeded Colorado School of Mines (9-1) would receive an opening round, while No. 2-seeded Angelo State (8-2) hosted No. 7-seeded Minnesota Duluth (8-2). No. 3-seeded Augustana (S.D.) (8-2) would host No. 6-seeded Central Washington (6-1), while No. 4-seeded Bemidji State (Minn.) (8-2) hosted No. 5-seeded Western Colorado (8-1). The first round games take place on Nov. 20.
In the second round, Colorado School of Mines would play the Bemidji State/Western Colorado winner, while the victors of the Angelo State/Minnesota Duluth and Augustana/Central Washington games would square off in the other second round game on Nov. 27.
The winners of the second round games advance to the national quarterfinal (super region final) on the weekend of Dec. 4. The four super region champs will be seeded by the committee for the national semifinal matchups on Dec. 11.
The NCAA Division II Championship Game is set for Saturday, Dec. 18 at McKinney (Texas) ISD Stadium.
Midwestern State, Sioux Falls (7-3) and Colorado Mesa (7-2) fill out the rankings at Nos. 8, 9 and 10, respectively.
