WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Lauryn Bourne,
Kelli Ell and
Lissette Lefforge each knocked down seven of Midwestern State's 36 kills in the Friday night match against Oklahoma Christian. This was not enough to overcome the Eagles as the Mustangs dropped the match in three sets (18-25, 21-25, 23-25). With two games left in the regular season, MSU sits at a 3-21 overall record while completing a 1-15 Lone Star Conference record.
Lefforge led Midwestern State with nine points with two blocks and one service ace added. The senior keeps her spot at the top of the Mustangs' blocking list with 56 on the season and 139 in her career at MSU.
Taylor Anderson matched Lefforge with two stops at the net. The senior is second on the team with 46 total blocks. She contributed five kills and six points against OC.
Bourne's seven smashes earned her a season-high 0.389 kill percent with 18 attacks. The outside hitter concluded the night with 16 digs to reach 239 for 2021.
Amy DeWalt pushed 11 digs versus the Eagles to record 318 season passes. The freshman owns a 0.947 receive percent as libero for the Mustangs.
Ell's seven kills were the most since her 13 put down performance against Eastern New Mexico (10/23). The outside hitter claims 80 total smashes and averages 1.63 per match.
Regan Willms and
Autumn Roach combined for 29 assists on the night. Roach threw in eight digs to her stats.
Oklahoma Christian's Hannah Rouse led all hitters with nine kills while posting two aces and four blocks for 13 points. Morgan Demuth registered seven kills and a 0.500 hitting percent. The middle blocker made five blocks at the net for the Eagles.
Libero Brylie Berryman was big for the visitors with 13 digs while Spence Plato posted all 31 assists for OC.
Midwestern State rebounds with another match, this time up against University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Lone Star Conference challenge heats up on Saturday, Nov. 6 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
