The guard is second in LSC with 6.0 average assists and ranks 16thh in the NCAA. She also holds a third-place spot in the conference with 18 total helpers. King and
Morgan Lenahan each lead MSU with seven steals each.
2| Midwestern State sits third in the Lone Star Conference with 30 defensive rebounds per game, earning them 56thh in Division II. Lenahan tops the team with 18 total defensive boards to rank ninth in the LSC. Her average of six rebounds per game puts her seventh in the conference.
Shawnisay Millar is the top rebounder for the Mustangs with 21 grabs. Her seven per game average sits tenth in the Lone Star.
3| MSU leads the Lone Star Conference with 6.00 average blocked shots while pulling a 13thh rank in NCAA. The team sits third with 18 total blocks, which puts them tenth in Division II.
Hannah Reynolds leads the charge for the Mustangs, sitting third in the LSC with a 2.0 block average. The senior forward ranks 41stt in NCAA with the feat. Her total stops sits at six earning fourth in the conference and 29thh in the nation. Reynolds is the all-time leader for MSU with 161 blocks in her 97 game career. She also leads with 1.7 blocks per game.
4| The Mustangs rank third in the Lone Star Conference with a 0.476 field goal percent, draining 79 of 166 attempts. Reynolds sits sixth in the conference with a 0.586 field goal percent, making 17 of 29. She totals 39 points to sit second in line for MSU and averages 13 per game. King is eighth for the LSC at 0.556 percent from the floor and tallied 15 makes in 27 tries.
5| Oklahoma Baptist is coming off a 74-60 home win against Northeastern State on Saturday, Nov. 20. Andreja Peciuraite led OBU with 19 points against the Riverhawks. The redshirt senior grabbed ten rebounds and went 7-9 from the floor in her first game of the season. Junior Mallory Lockhard tops Oklahoma Baptist with 37 points and averages 12.3 after three games. The guard posted 1.3 rebounds and two steals. Kalifa Ford owns 27 boards for OBU and adds 36 points. The junior guard averages nine rebounds and 12 points per game. Senior guard Jaylin Stapleton is the Bison leader with eight steals and 11 assists.
HEAD COACH CHRISTOPHER REAY begins his second season at the helm of his alma mater. In the shortened COVID 2020-21 season, Reay helped the Mustangs to an 11-7 overall record while going 11-5 in Lone Star Conference play. The team finished fifth in the standings and reached the quarterfinals in the postseason tournament. Reay guided the Mustangs to a 4-6 mark over the final 10 games in 2019-20 serving in an interim role following
Noel Johnson's leave of absence to continue her fight against ovarian cancer. His career coaching record stands at 17-14 (.548). Reay served as the top assistant for 10 campaigns, playing a hand in guiding MSU to three consecutive NCAA Division II South Central Regionals from 2012-15 as MSU claimed a Lone Star Conference regular and postseason tournament titles in 2012-13. Reay competed two seasons at Midwestern State in 2006-07 and 2007-08 after transferring from SMU helping MSU to an LSC postseason tournament championship and a regional semifinal appearance in 2007.
SERIES AGAINST THE BISON
Midwestern State and Oklahoma Baptist meet for the fifth time on Tuesday night and the first time since 1986. The series is tied with the Mustangs and the Bison each gaining two wins. MSU took the first two match-ups in 1976 and 1977. OBU found wins in the last two games, both in 1986. Midwestern State is 1-1 in Shawnee, Okla., and 1-1 at home in Wichita Falls, Texas.
