WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Cassidy Savoy hands Midwestern State their third straight win after netting her sixth goal of the season in the team's 1-0 defeat of Lubbock Christian. MSU takes a 9-3-3 record overall with the victory. The Mustangs also sit third in the Lone Star Conference with a 6-1-3 record and 21 conference points.
Savoy notched her goal in the 33rd minute from a Alyssa Salina's corner kick. The junior floated the ball into the Lady Chaps' box where Savoy ran in to head the ball past Hannah Wise to put MSU on the scoreboard. Salinas collected her third assist of the season and third straight match with a goal or assist.
The Mustangs tallied five shots in the first half while Lubbock Christian attempted four.
Lauren Freeman made two saves in her third start of the season and Wise gained one stop.
Isabella Cruz had a few narrow misses in the second half that were just off course or saved by Wise. The freshman recorded a season-best four attempts in her 56 minutes of play. Savoy followed with three shots with two landing on goal.
Lindsey Elison put up four tries for LCU and Avery Jennings added two in 65 minutes.
MSU concluded the match with 12 shots and five shots on goal. Lubbock Christian tallied nine attempts with four going on frame. Freeman grabbed four saves to total 16 while Wise also made three stops. The Mustangs registered ten corner kicks on the night while holding the opposition to none.
Midwestern State final match of the week requires the team to load the bus. The Mustangs take on UT Tyler on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Citizen 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex in Tyler, Texas. The Lone Star Conference battle kicks off at 2 p.m.
