WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Goals by

Kelly Cannistra was just enough to edge out West Texas A&M in the Saturday afternoon match at Stang Park. Midwestern State moves to 8-3-3 on the season with the 3-2 win over the Lady Buffs. MSU tags a fourth place Lone Star Conference rank with their 5-1-3 record.
Salinas opening goal came off the a corner kick scramble with the popping out to the top of the box. The junior took a touch to settle and let it rip through traffic and into the bottom corner of WT's goal. Reagan Heelan stood motionless on Salina's first tally of the season and second in her career.
Savoy doubled the lead in the 37th minute of play with her fifth of the season.
Nicole Marsolek sent the ball into the Lady Buff's box on a free kick near half where a WT defender misjudged the header. Savoy brought the ball down with her shoulder and sent a high header toward Heelan. The keeper got a hand to the ball, but could not keep it out of the net as the Mustangs went up 2-0.
MSU tallied seven attempts in the first half while WT pushed six. Heelan made four saves for West Texas A&M and
Lauren Freeman completed three in her second start on the year.
Cannistra grabbed her fifth goal of the season early in the second period. The 48th minute tally started with
Isabella Cruz clipping the ball to the top of the box to Savoy who put a perfect pass into Cannistra's run. The senior chipped Heelan to tally what would be the game-winner.
Midwestern State and West Texas A&M battled for 35 minutes with Freeman pushing away three attempts by the visitors. Tradegy struck with a Mustang foul in their box to lead to a Lady Buff penalty kick. Asha James stepped up to the spot for WT and calmly converted for her team's first goal of the game.
Only two minutes later, the situation repeated with an MSU defender committing a foul inside the 18-yard box for the ref to call another PK for West Texas A&M. James put away her second of the game and the Lady Buffs searched for the equalizer with six minutes to play.
Midwestern State stood strong and rode out until the final whistle. WT recorded ten shots in the second half with Freeman pushing three away to total six saves on the day. The home side added two attempts to finish with 9 total shots.
MSU will look to push their win streak to three in their next match against Lubbock Christian. Stang Park will host the Lone Star Conference match on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. for the Military Appreciation Day match.
