WICHITA FALLS, Texas –
Bailey Brenek homered for the second straight game but Mak Dominguez's grand slam broke open a one run contest in the fifth to power No. 2 UT Tyler to a 9-2 win over Midwestern State in game one of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Mustangs Park.
After Brenek's two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth sliced a 3-0 deficit to 3-2, Dominguez crushed an 0-2 drop ball over the wall in left to hand the Patriots a 7-2 lead.
"Jacey (Henry) didn't get the ball up but you live and learn," MSU Texas head coach
Mark Ryal said.
The Patriots scored runs in six of the game's seven innings, including single runs in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead.
Jacey Henry (1-8) suffered the loss after allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 12 hits. The right-hander tossed a complete game.
Senior
Lauren Lindgren finished 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Game two of the doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m.
