SEARCY, Ark. – Lauren Lindgren knocked in two runs in a 10-2 run rule loss to the Drury (Mo.) Panthers on Saturday morning at the Harding Invitational held at the HU Softball Complex. The game was stopped in the bottom of the fifth inning after the Panthers took an eight-run lead.
The outfielder's two-run double in the third helped the Mustangs get on the board after the Panthers jumped out to an early 5-0 advantage.
DU scored two runs in the first on a pair of RBI groundouts before adding three more runs in the second. Jacy Ummel smashed a two-run double down the left field line. Two batters later, Kinzy Mathis collected her second RBI of the morning with a single to left.
The Panthers added a run in the third on a fielder's choice and three more in the fourth to grab a 9-2 lead. Grace King drove in two with a double to right-center and Madoline Seumalo followed with a run scoring double of her own.
DU closed out the game with a run in the fifth.
Ashley Turner went 2-for-3 with a run and is hitting .455 on the season. The sophomore has recorded at least two hits in four of the team's first six games.
Bailey Wamsley went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run.
Mattye Tyler (0-3) took the loss. The right-hander surrendered six runs (five earned) in three innings in the circle. Tyler walked three and struck out one.
The Mustangs return to action today at 12:30 p.m. against Delta State (Miss.)
