WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 15th ranked Mustangs open the home portion of their schedule on Friday against No. 1 Tyler Junior College. First serve is at 2 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
Tyler Junior holds a 6-2 edge in the all-time series and has won the previous four meetings. MSU Texas' last win in the series came in 2014.
DIAZ DELIVERS
Alberto Diaz opened the 2020 season with a pair of singles wins. The Spaniard defeated Tom Golden (Collin College) in a three-set thriller 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 at the number two line before collecting a straight set win over Luis Tirado (Harding) at the number four line.
THERE'S AN ANGEL ON THE COURT

Angel Palacios notched a pair of wins at the number one line on February 1. Palacios fought back from an early 1-0 hole to edge Adam O'Shannessy (Collin College) 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Later in the day, the senior handled Arthur Bellan (Harding) in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.
DOUBLES TROUBLE
Midwestern State lost the doubles point in both matches last Saturday. Each time, the Mustangs dropped the first match, won the second match, and then lost the decisive third match.
HOME SWEET HOME
Since the start of the 2013 season, MSU Texas is a remarkable 60-9 at home. The Mustangs have not lost more than two matches at home during a season during the stretch.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
No. 1 Tyler Junior College opens the 2020 season on Saturday against Midwestern State. The Apaches enter the season as the No. 1 ranked team in NJCAA Division I following a 15-1 season that ended with a National Championship. The Apaches edged ASA Miami 49-48 in the team standings. Tyler Junior College returns three from last year's National Championship squad in Matthew Beecher, Carlos Matarredona, and Rohit Patil.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH LINN
Scott Linn enters his 10th season at the helm of the Midwestern State men's and women's tennis teams. Since arriving in the fall of 2010, Linn coached teams have made 15 total NCAA Tournament appearances.
