PORTALES, N.M. -- Mica Schneider continued her late season surge lighting up the scoreboard for 25 points Saturday afternoon at Greyhound Arena.
It wasn't enough to hold off the Greyhounds, who claimed the regular season finale with a 77-60 win, but the Mustangs' season will continue.
MSU grabbed the 11th-seed and will play at Angelo State Tuesday night at Junell Center/Stephens Arena with the winner advancing to play Thursday's quarterfinal round at Comerica Center in Frisco.
Schneider connected on six 3-pointers on 7-of-17 shooting shouldering the offensive load for Midwestern State. The rest of the team managed to shoot a mere 27.2 percent -- 12-of-55 with one 3-pointer.
"We just couldn't get anyone else going that we needed to," MSU interim coach
Christopher Reay said. "We were hoping to get more of a contribution from the rest of the group."
It was Schneider's sixth performance of at least 20 points this season with four of them coming in her final six games.
Senior forward
Hannah Reynolds did most of her damage early finishing with 11 points and five rebounds, while redshirt-freshman
Mandy Withey added seven points and four rebounds. Senior guard
Courtney Kerr knocked down a triple and closed with five points.
"Our execution wasn't as good as we got down double digits. We didn't work to get our second and third options," Reay said.
Zamorye Cox scored 16 points to go with five assists and four rebounds to lead a trio of 'Hounds in double figures. Natlaie DeLonge added 15 points and five rebounds, while Natalie Stice pitched in 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
Midwestern State closes the regular season with an 11-15 record, while ENMU improved to 20-8.
