LINDGREN'S LIGHTING IT UP
Lauren Lindgren continued her torrid pace to the season with a 4-for-6 showing on day one of the MSU Texas Invitational. The senior swatted a home run against Nebraska-Kearney before a two-hit, three RBI effort in a loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State. Lindgren is hitting a team best .452 with a home run and seven RBI through the season's first eight games.
KELSEY KEEPS HITTING
Kelsey Eropkin ran her hitting streak to five games with a 2-for-3 showing against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Friday afternoon. The senior is second on the team with a .423 batting average and has recorded at least one hit in eight of nine games.
ANNA THE GREAT
Anna Williams opened the MSU Texas Invitational on Friday by going 2-for-5 with an RBI. The junior has knocked in four runs over the last four games.
TROUBLE ON THE MOUND
Midwestern State pitchers have compiled a 6.67 ERA through the first nine games of the season. Mustang pitchers have allowed 64 runs (54 earned) in 56.2 innings.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Southwestern Oklahoma State dropped both games on Friday at the MSU Texas Invitational to fall to 0-6 on the season. The Bulldogs played the most exciting game of the day against Nebraska-Kearney, a 9-8 loss in which they held leads in rhe third, fourth, and fifth innings before falling by run rule to Cameron in five innings, 10-0. Amanda Moreno belted a grand slam in Friday's loss to Nebraksa-Kearney.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH RYAL
Mark Ryal begins his fourth season as head coach after serving in an interim capacity in 2017. Last season, Ryal guided the Mustangs to a 22-19 (13-17) record. The 22 wins marked the program's highest total since the 2016 season. Overall, the Dewar, Oklahoma native has compiled a 56-78 (32-58) record during his time in Wichita Falls.
