WICHITA FALLS, Texas – #14 Midwestern State (1-0-0) struck for two first half goals to power past the Dixie State Trailblazers (0-1-0), 2-0, in the 2019 season opener on Thursday night at Stang Park.
Carlos Flores opened the scoring with a tally in the 4
th minute. Flores settled a 30-yard volley from
Dylan Burke, before blasting it past Zach Nielson for the first goal of 2019.
Less than 15 minutes later, the Mustangs struck again when
Adam Conway headed home a right-wing cross from
Juan Ramirez. The 18
th minute goal was Conway's first in an MSU uniform.
Midwestern State Junior netminder
Taylor Lampe earned his first clean sheet of the season after stopping all five shots he faced.
