SAN ANTONIO, Texas — No. 8 Midwestern State suffered their first loss of the season, falling to St. Mary's, 2-0, on Saturday night at Sigma Beta Chi Field. The loss was the first time an MSU team had lost to the Rattlers (30-1-0).
St. Mary's (3-1-1) struck early, finding the back of the net in the 10th minute on a Cain Smith goal. The Rattlers added an insurance tally in the 74th minute when Nenad Markovic slipped one past
Taylor Lampe.
Midwestern State (4-1-0) was outshot by St. Mary's, 10-7.
MATCH NOTES:
- Lampe remained one shutout shy of tying Raul Herrera for the most shutouts in program history (21)
- The shutout loss was the first time MSU failed to score a goal this season
