WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State (1-2-1) threatened but could not find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss to Emporia State (2-1) on Friday night at Stang Park.
"If you would rewind this back a year, we would not have been in this game so I think the good thing is our progression," said Head Coach
Ryan Spence. "Yes we lost our second game, but we are still in every game."
The Hornets scored the lone goal of the game in the 22nd minute when Mackenzie DiMarco found the back of the net from almost 25 yards out. The freshman's shot rattled off the crossbar before crossing the goal line.
MSU generated chances, especially in the second half, but could not solve goalkeeper Jillian Patton. Junior captain
Kelly Cannistra, who entered play with goals in two of the first three games, had a great chance in the 68th minute, but her shot from just inside the 18 was corralled by Patton.
