WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Seniors Maddy Coffman and Greta Lazzarotto picked up wins in singles, but No. 25-ranked St. Edward's topped No. 29 Midwestern State - 5-2 - Friday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.
 
Coffman bested SEU's Beth Hayward, 7-5, 6-4, at the No. 1 flight to improve to 7-3 overall this season. The Oracle/ITA's No. 7 ranked singles player collected her 94^th-career victory in the Maroon and Gold to put MSU Texas on the board in the match.
 
Lazzarotto earned her 129th career win by taking down Laura Galvan in three-sets to wrap up the match, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. The Bassano del Grappa, Italy, native improved to 8-2 in singles in 2019.
 
The Mustangs lost the doubles competition for the seventh-straight match and were swept on all three courts for the first time this season.
 
The No. 3 flight of Lea Cizeron and Juliette Mary fell to Elisa Guillen and Laura Galvan, 6-0, to open the day.
 
In a lineup shakeup, Bianca Duff and Ashley Ramirez played the No. 2 flight, dropping a 6-2 decision to Pao Carpio and Loli Perim to clinch the point.
 
Playing together for the first time this season, Coffman and Lazzarotto flirted with an upset of the third-ranked pair of Valentina Martinez and Hayward before faltering, 7-6 (5).
 
The Hilltoppers rolled to straight-set wins on three of the first four singles courts off to clinch the win.
