Midwestern State welcomes No. 32-ranked St. Edward's and Arkansas-Fort Smith to the MSU Tennis Center for a weekend showdown. First serve against the Hilltoppers on Friday is slated for noon while Saturday's contest with UAFS is tabbed for 10 a.m.

Linn Nears Win No. 300 in the Maroon and Gold
Scott Linn enters his ninth season at the helm of the men's and women's tennis programs, needing eight wins for his 300th overall win at MSU. The East Central graduate has posted a 292-129 (.694) combined record with the Mustangs, including a 141-64 (.688) mark with the men's program. He needs 215 wins to match Larry Wiggins (1995-2010) program record of 507.

Mustangs Down to No. 18; Palacios Makes History
Junior
Angel Palacios became the highest-ranked Midwestern State singles player in school history, earning a No. 2 ranking in the Oracle/ITA National Rankings released on Wednesday.

Following a 2-1 week, Midwestern State dropped two spots to No. 18 in the team rankings with a 10-2 overall record.
Â
Three singles players and a doubles tandem appeared in the individual rankings for the Maroon and Gold.

Palacios jumped from No. 5 to No. 2, behind Columbus State's top-ranked Kiranpal Pannu. The Piedras Negras native improved to 12-1 overall and 6-0 against nationally ranked foes. Palacios picked up wins against Northwest Missouri State's 13th-ranked Franco Oliva (7-5, 6-2) and Southwest Baptist's 42nd-ranked Raul Caballero (4-6, 6-4, 6-4).

Sophomore
Alberto Diaz made his first appearance among the singles ranks at No. 63. The Tenerife, Spain, native boasts an 8-3 overall record, including an 8-2 mark at the No. 5 flight.

Alex Martinez Roca earned a No. 71 ranking in singles. The Castelldefels, Spain, improved to 11-2 after a 3-1 week, including a 10-1 mark at the No. 4 line.

Freshman
Ben Westwick and Diaz slid down two spots to No. 5 in the doubles ranking. The pair sits at 7-2 overall this spring, all at the No. 1 line.

With an 10-2 record, the Mustangs are off to their best start since opening the 2011 season with an identical 10-2 mark.
