BOLIVAR, Mo. – Midwestern State's trip to the Show-Me state ended in a downpour as Friday's match against 13th-ranked Southwest Baptist was suspended late in singles play. The Mustangs trailed the Bearcats 3-2 before the rains came and left the match uncompleted.
 
MSU's tandem of Angel Palacios and Denney Norrie trounced Carlos Corser and David Szeri, 6-4, at the No. 3 doubles line to open the match.
 
The Mustangs third-ranked pair of Ben Westwick and Alberto Diaz were upset by 25th-ranked Raul Caballero and Adham Gaber, 6-3, at No. 1 to even the doubles contest.
 
Dillon Pineda and Nolan McCaig were unable to secure the early lead, falling in a tiebreaker to Gyory and Ferenc Agoston at the No. 2 line, 10-8.
 
The Mustangs picked up a pair of wins in singles before the match was suspended.
 
After a loss yesterday, fifth-ranked Angel Palacios returned to form with a three-set thriller against 42nd-ranked Raul Caballero, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, at the top flight.
 
Sophomore Alex Martinez Roca downed Ferenc Agoston, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 4 for the second MSU Texas point.
 
Pineda split a pair of tiebreakers in the first two sets against 46th-ranked Gaber before succumbing 6-3 in the third set at the No. 2 flight.
 
McCaig slipped up in a second-set tiebreaker to yield the match to No. 28 Gyory Agoston, 6-3, 7-6 (7).
 
Diaz was well on his way to forcing a third set against Szeri. The sophomore led 4-1 in the second as the match was called.
 
Westwick held a 5-4 advantage in the first set when the match was suspended.
