TYLER, Texas – Midwestern State overcame a slow start in doubles with a dominant singles performance in a 5-2 win against UT Tyler on Thursday at the Summer Tennis Center.
 
The No. 33-ranked Mustangs improved to 6-2 on the year after the win.
 
MSU Texas dropped the doubles point for the third-straight match to fall into a 1-0 hole. The 42^nd-ranked duo of Bianca Duff and Greta Lazzarotto fell 6-4 to Brooke Brewer and Alexandra McKissick at the No. 2 flight.
 
The Patriots clinched the point as Lea Cizeron and Juliette Mary suffered a 6-3 setback to Chloe Chawner and Victoria Kniffen at No. 3.
 
The Maroon and Gold's 10^th-ranked duo of Maddy Coffman and Ashley Ramirez picked up where they left off after a five-match hiatus. The tandem took down Anna Claire Gerletti and Lauren Kuhn, 6-4, at the No. 1 line.
 
MSU Texas responded to the early adversity with five straight-set wins in singles to clinch the win.
 
Coffman swept through Chawner, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 moments before Cizeron took down Gerletti, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 to put the Mustangs on top, 2-1. Duff trumped Kuhn, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3.
 
Freshman Casie Curry clinched the match for MSU Texas to improve to 5-0 on the season. The Rider HS product ousted Caitlyn Cox, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5.
 
Ramirez closed out the win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Savannah Seely at No. 6.
