STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Midwestern State recorded its worst shooting night of the season in a 65-50 loss to Tarleton State at Wisdom Gym on Thursday. The Mustangs went 17-for-67 (25.4 percent) from the field, its lowest shooting percentage since going for 23.4 percent against Texas Woman's on Jan. 2, 2016.
Tarleton's big three of Kaylee Allen, Mackenzie Hailey and McKinley Bostad combined for 44 of the team's 65 points, putting up 16, 15 and 13, respectively, to lead the TexAnns. Hailey recorded a double-double for TSU by matching a game-high with 11 rebounds.
Senior
Chelcie Kizart poured in 10 points in the second half for her fifth-consecutive game in double-figures. The St. Paul, Minn., native went 3-of-7 from the floor and 2-of-3 from long range in the second half.
Sophomore
Hannah Reynolds grabbed 11 boards and scored six points, marking the fifth time this season the Prosper product pulled down at least 10 rebounds.
After battling to a near-dead heat in the first quarter, MSU Texas went 3-for-13 in the second quarter to allow the TexAnns to push the lead out to double digits. The Mustangs went into the locker room down 33-22 at the break.
MSU Texas stayed within striking distance going into the fourth quarter, down 50-40, but went a meager 2-for-20 from the floor.
TSU pushed the lead to as many as 19 with 2:46 to play to coast to the 65-50 win.
The Mustangs slip to 8-12 overall and 5-8 in Lone Star Conference play while the TexAnns move to 15-6 overall and 8-5 in league action.
